Our commitment
Chegutu Community Football Club works with children and young people every day. That is a privilege, and it carries an absolute duty of care. We accept that duty without qualification.
Every person who represents this club — staff, coach, volunteer, board member or matchday helper — is responsible for safeguarding. It is not one person’s job. It is a condition of being here.

Child Protection Policy
A written policy reviewed annually, issued to every parent and guardian at registration.
Safeguarding Officer
A named Designated Safeguarding Officer, contactable directly and independently of coaching staff.
Welfare Officer
A dedicated Player Welfare Officer supporting wellbeing, mental health and pastoral needs.
Safe Recruitment
Identity verification, references and vetting for every adult before any contact with players.
Medical Support
Qualified first aid cover at every session and fixture, with clear emergency procedures.
Anti-Bullying Programme
A published code of conduct, taught to players and enforced consistently.
Equality & Diversity
A written policy covering discrimination, harassment and inclusion across the club.
Mental Health Support
Access to sports psychology and confidential pastoral support for every player.
Reporting
How to raise a concern
Anyone can raise a concern — a player, a parent, a member of staff, a volunteer, an opponent or a member of the public.
Contact the Designated Safeguarding Officer directly on +263 784 658 667 or at safeguarding@chegutucommunityfc.com. You do not need to go through a coach, and you do not need to be certain before you report.
If a child is at immediate risk of harm, contact the police or emergency services first, then inform the club.
Every concern is recorded, taken seriously and acted on. The Designated Safeguarding Officer will acknowledge receipt, assess the concern and refer it to the appropriate statutory authority where required. Where a member of staff or a volunteer is the subject of a concern, they are stood down from all contact with players while the matter is assessed.
Information is shared only with those who need it to keep a child safe, and with statutory authorities where the law requires. We will never promise absolute secrecy to anyone raising a concern, because doing so could prevent us from protecting a child.
Images of players under 18 are published only with parental or guardian consent, and never alongside identifying personal details such as a full name, school or home area. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and images will be removed promptly on request.
All travel with academy players requires signed parental consent, a named responsible adult, a minimum staffing ratio and a first-aid-trained adult present. Overnight trips require additional written consent and a separate risk assessment.
